Why did TORP pick this specific site for its regas terminal?
A number of factors make this the ideal location for Bienville Terminal: The site is located away from fairways and commercial fishing areas; similarly, it is not in an area that is heavily fished by sport fishermen. Those factors, coupled with the terminal’s small physical presence—far from land and in deep water—minimize Bienville’s environmental impact. The terminal will be located near four existing pipelines that it can connect to in order to transport natural gas to shore. That eliminates the need to build any new pipelines to shore, further reducing the terminal’s environmental impact.
