Located on Interstate 35, it is one of the few cities on interstate 35 between Wichita, KSWichita and Oklahoma City. Perry is also one of the few cities in Oklahoma, especially of its size, that still functions under the strong Council/Mayor form of government, and does not have a city manager. Perry was settled in 1893 as part of the Cherokee Outlet, and was at one time referred to as Hell’s Half-Acre.
