Can rabbits live with guinea pigs?

Answer Dear Cristie, Rabbits and guinea pigs do get along, but because they do require different things in terms of space and housing, you have to be sure that the rabbit has enough room. A guinea pig generally doesn’t need as much room to run and play as a rabbit does. All our rabbits run free in the house, and are litterbox trained. You must *never* keep a rabbit in a closed cage of any type. They need a completely ventilated space no smaller than 4′ x 4′ x 3’tall in order to be able to stretch and play when they are not running free. One other thing to consider is that *some* (not all!) rabbits harbor a bacterium known as Bordetella bronchiseptica. In most rabbits it does not cause symptoms, but these organism can cause very serious or fatal respiratory infections in guinea pigs. If your rabbit is a carrier of Bordetella, it could put your GP at risk. And yes, witches are excellent for rabbits, as they often keep rabbits and hares as their familiars… oh, wait. Sorry. heh.
