A Palm cross is so named because it is made from the frond of a palm leaf. They are traditionally made by children just before Easter and used in Palm Sunday celebrations. The Palm cross commemorates Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem before His crucifixion. The following steps show how to make two different types of Palm crosses. Use the simplest method to make a Palm cross for Easter. Get a palm frond about 13 inches long and hold it upright in front of you. Make a shaft of the desired length by folding the top and bottom ends away from you to form a single vertical segment. Fold down the top end and twist it to your right. Bring it across the front so that the crossbar is proportional to the length. Next, fold this end behind and around the shaft. Bring the end from behind the shaft and under the center.
