How Did World War II Start?
World War II lasted from 1939 to 1945. The war was the direct result of the discontent that was felt worldwide on account of the economic depression, post World War I. The economic and political implications of the First World War made the people of nations like Germany and Italy lose faith in the governments. They voted into power dictators like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. These dictators initially worked to revive the insulted and wounded economies and thereafter, they embarked upon fulfilling their personal ambitions. This included territorial expansion and secret alliances to prove their stance as world powers. The immediate causes of World War II was the German invasion of Poland in 1939. Simultaneously, in the east, the Japanese attacked and began invading China and Manchuria and the various smaller colonies held by the United States of America, the British and the Dutch.
