How many reps/sets are necessary?
It depends on your goal. Higher numbers of reps with little or no rest in between is for weight loss and toning; 10-12 reps with a one-minute rest is for general strengthening, pyramid training for strength and body building. How many days a week and for how long should people work out? You should not lift weights two days in a row. Each time you weight train, you break down the muscle, and rest is necessary to rebuild and get stronger. You can do cardio between weight training days.
