Why do jokes make people laugh?

I’m not quite sure why some things like that make people laugh…I guess it’s because they are so stupid that they become funny. But I do know that in Psychology there’s a thing called the Chameleon Effect which basically states that people will copy off other people when something seems to feel good For instance when people laugh…others mimic the behavior because it’s a natural stress reliever and they want to experience what that sensation feels like. Maybe a better example is when someone yawns…do you ever realize that other people yawn or maybe even you do? That’s the Chameleon Effect that takes a role in why we act the way we do.
