What’s a Consuite?
The word Consuite is science fiction fandom lingo. It is not like you have seen in a film such as “Trekkies”. Those are autograph shows– mainly giant flea markets that make you buy concessions at stadium prices. All-volunteer fan-run conventions like Marcon are a different type of event from that. We have a large room in the hotel that we use to be a restaurant for hospitality, called Consuite, with bowls full of salty and sweet snacks, lunchmeats, cold beverages, and other food events at different times throughout the convention weekend. Marcon’s Consuite is open non-stop from 3PM Friday to Sunday afternoon when it closes for a few hours to clean up and get ready for the dead dog party. (where we eat, game, talk and generally relax till the wee hours of Monday morning). It’s all complimentary. Yup, free. We don’t serve meals, but try to have substantial snacks available around the clock for ravenous fans. We also try to have special foods for those with dietary needs.
