There have been several combinations of Los Reyes since the time when Jose formed Jose Y Los Reyes with his sons. The current Los Reyes are a group formed from cousins of the Gipsy Kings: Antonico Reyes, Mario Reyes and Toni Reyes are the consistent members on all four CDs (see recommended). There is an ongoing controversy about their use of the “Los Reyes” name and its alleged intent to pretend to be the original group. Note – the CD Les Stes Maries de la Mer, although it is the “old” Los Reyes with Canut, Paul,and Nicolas (but without Jose) is credited to Los Reyes. And yet a different lineup of Reyes is found on Gipsy Kings of Music: Antonico, Canut, Manuel, Patchai and Toni.
