How is the Diamond made?
Man made diamonds are made in a similar way to natural diamonds, although a lot faster. All living creatures are made from carbon. The pure carbon remains from long since dead sea creatures formed layers on the ancient ocean floors. These layers slowly folded deep into the earth’s mantle as the planet’s tectonic plate’s shift and collide. This process still continues today. The carbon layers were then exposed to very high temperatures and pressures over millions of years below the earth’s crust. Eventually diamonds were created by this process. Occasionally volcanic eruptions release diamond laden magma back onto the surface, where it can be found by geologists and miners today. American and Russian scientists have developed special machines that can duplicate the tremendous pressures and temperatures necessary for diamond growth and rapidly speed up the process, although we are still limited to approximately 2 carats in cut size due to limitations in the strength of the equipment to h
