What Causes Bloody Stool in Cats?
As already mentioned, bloody stool in kittens signifies bleeding in the lower intestinal tract. There can be a number of possible reasons behind it. The most important factor that can bring such a condition are microbial infection, especially by bacteria like E.Coli, Clostridium and Salmonella. This further results in an inflammation of the bowel. The infected and inflamed intestine often bleeds, and hence blood is found to be present in the stools. Other causes of bloody stool in cats include irritable bowel syndrome, intake of allergic or toxic substances such as rat poison or some kind of house cleaning agents. Invasion of parasites in cats, like tapeworms, hookworms and roundworms often injure the intestine of animals and causes its bleeding. Therefore, worms in cats is another possible cause of bloody stool. Last but not the least, the reason behind blood in feline stool can be as serious as bowel cancer. The presence of benign tumors in the rectum and colon often cause the bleedi
