What should I look out for when buying an YEAR 2000 Audi A6 Avant quattro 2.5tdi , ?
The second answer isn’t far off the mark – the A6 TDi is a good car, but it needs to have had a very recent cambelt, but they also suffer from a few other problems; Wheel bearings can wear quite badly, but aren’t ferociously expensive to sort as long as you don’t use main dealers. Gearboxes can give trouble, but this is uncommon, and if the ‘box is smooth & quiet, you shouldn’t have any issues. The big problem is the fuel system – The Bosch LH injection pump is prone to failure at around 5 – 8 years, and unless you shop around, you could easily end up eith a £1,500 repair bill (around £3,000 from a main dealer).
