Pure Usnic Acid (as the name implies) is NOT usnea or kombucha extract but pure laboratory certified usnic acid. The reason for not using extracts is simple: they do not contain enough usnic acid. For example usnea barbata extract contains around 5 mg usnic acid in 2 droppers. Consuming a full 2 ounce bottle costing $16.99 of this extract would yield only 150 mg of usnic acid!
