Are mopeds/scooters dangerous?
Anything that cannot exceed the speed of traffic is dangerous — which is a moped or little 50cc scooter. A bigger scooter, such as a Piaggio Fly150 has the same safety advantage as any other motorcycle — no blind spots, small target, the speed and agility to avoid/escape hazards — making two wheels less likely to be involved in a collision. Some people have scare stories. Others, such as myself, have never had a collision or high speed spill on a bike. If you ride taking responsibilty for your own safety, never trusting anyone else to obey any laws other than the laws of physics, never expecting anyone to even see you, staying well within your riding abilities, you will be okay.
