Do Rabbits Always Make Nests?

Some does do not make a nest. It is usually because she is a first time mother and doesn’t really know what to do. Some will not make a nest until very close to their due date (about 31 days after breeding). You can make a nest in a cardboard or show box. She should be able to go in and out, but not move around a lot. The doe should only be in the nest to feed the kits. Put some hay, shavings and the does fur in the box and give it to her a few days before she is due. Once she gives birth, put all the kits in the nest box so they don’t roll off and freeze. Most breeders build a nest box for their does. There are some instructions out there. I would not build one if it is the only litter you will have.
