What is Previcox Chewable?
Previcox (firocoxib) is a coxib class non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which is often prescribed to dogs to treat osteoarthritis or soft tissue injuries. Previcox for dogs helps to control pain and inflammation from these conditions. This medication requires a prescription from your veterinarian. Osteoarthritis is a painful condition of the joints where cartilage and other soft tissues of the joints break down. This is generally caused by wear and tear on the joints as the animal ages, especially in large breed dogs. However it can occur in dogs of any size or age. The pain and inflammation from osteoarthritis can cause limping or lameness, decreased activity such as a reluctance to go up and down stairs or for long walks, and general stiffness in movement. Previcox helps inhibit COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2). COX-2 helps build chemicals that cause pain, inflammation and fever in dogs.
