Where is alto flute music?
I am lucky enough to own an alto flute (it may not be the best quality but hey, it’s an alto flute). The thing is I’ve had it for 3-4 years now and haven’t played a single song on it. It is because of the lack of flutes at my school (Damonte Ranch High School if any are from the area) that are interested in doing a flute ensemble. I tried starting one last year, having the music and everything, but no one showed up and the people that did, didn’t really practice (or so I have been lead to believe). So does anyone know of some good solo pieces for an alto flute or maybe an alto flute – flute duet? www.fluteworld.com. The problem, if you want to call it that, with alto flute is that it is a transposing instrument – it is pitched in G. That is why I bought a BASS flute instead – although my husband says “oh look – she’s playing the floor lamp again!”.
