What is the currency of Cyprus?
The currency is the Cyprus pound (C£), which is divided into 100 cents. Notes are in denominations of C£20, 10, 5 and 1. Major credit cards are accepted at most establishments. Money and travellers cheques can be exchanged at banks; it is best to take them in Pounds Sterling. Banking hours are Monday to Friday 8.15am to 12.30pm, however banks in the main tourist areas, including the airports and cruise ports, provide ‘afternoon tourist services’ from Tuesday to Friday. There are ATMs spread throughout the island, operating 24 hours a day. As of January 2008, Cyprus will be using the Euro.
