Whats wrong with Gujarat?
A few days ago Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, was adjudged the best performing head of a state government in the last one year, in a survey by a leading news channel. The runner up was also predictably Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik, with only 1 per cent fewer votes than Modi. The surprising element of the survey was the sample – 85 per cent of the 34,277 respondents across the country chose Modi as the best chief minister, while Patnaik got 84 per cent. Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Chauhan and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh got 77 per cent and 73 per cent, respectively. Both belong to the main Opposition party at the Centre, BJP.
