Who was Rubin “Hurricane” Carter?

0

Rubin Carter was a middleweight contender in the 1960s. He koed Emile Griffith in 1 round when Emile was a welterweight. In December 1964 he lost a 15 round decision to middleweight champ Joey Giardello. On June 17 1966 a triple murder occurred in Paterson New Jersey at a tavern and Carter was 1 of 2 men along with John Artis who was tried and convicted not once but twice. In 1985 Judge Sarokin overturned the decision and Carter was freed. He now resides in Canada. This case has so many holes in it, it is ludicrous. Carter was in jail several times before for different crimes but is guilt in this triple murder is questionable to say the least. The movie The Hurricane which came out in 1999 was at best flawed and it tried to make a hero out of Carter. In closing when this crime happened Carter was on the downward spiral of a decent boxing career. However world championship material would be a stretch.
