Where is the Gaol?
The Adelaide Gaol is located in Adelaide’s north western park lands at: 18 Gaol Road, Thebarton. Gaol Road runs off the Port Road by the Police Barracks. (Please note, when heading out of the city, there is no longer a right turn from Port Road into Gaol Road.) There is plenty of free parking and the Gaol has been adapted to allow access for disabled visitors. Gaol Tours are run by the Adelaide Gaol Preservation Society which is a not for profit organisation and is run entirely by volunteers. The Society conducts the original and authentic Gaol Tours and is not affiliated with any privately run Gaol tour operators. Day Tours: The Adelaide Gaol is open for self guided tours from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm every day except Saturdays, Good Friday and Christmas Day.
