Who are the Crimestoppers?
Crimestoppers are a group of concerned citizens of West Contra Costa County who seek to assist local police departments in solving crimes of a serious nature. Crimestoppers raise funds to present to persons who provide information that assists in the solving of crimes in the communities. The tips are provided anonymously to the tip line, and no names or further information is required. The caller is to give a code name of their choice and the information is sent to the appropriate police department. (Crimestoppers does not investigate the crime.) When the crime is solved and the story is in the local newspaper, the tipster should call and seek the reward. The reward amount varies (up to $1000) and is paid in cash to the tipster, with only their code name as identification. Please help us to help our Police and Sheriff’s Departments solve the crimes that can only be solved by a tip from someone who has information but does not want to be identified.
