What are the origins of Islamism?
Islam originated in the 7th Century, not the 6th as mentioned above, Mohammed was not alive until 570 C.E., with his first revelation in 610 C.E. Islamism, which is a very controversial term originated probably in the early 20th Century, and it is the idea that Islam is not just a religion but also a political system. Islamism is based on the enforcement of sharia (Islamic law); of pan-Islamic political unity; and of the elimination of non-Muslim, particularly western, military, economic, political, social, or cultural influences in the Muslim world, which they believe to be incompatible with Islam. Islamism and Islam are only similar in the use of the name Islam, and using the religion Islam, with Islamism it is about propaganda.
