What is Asbestos Ceiling Tile?
Asbestos fibers are strong and flexible enough to be spun into materials that are fire and flame retardant, as well as resistant to heat and electricity. This makes them excellent as an insulating material. They also absorb sound efficiently which makes them great for soundproofing rooms. Asbestos ceiling tile was most often used in ceilings that were suspended from the roof. This allowed a space to be created between the asbestos ceiling tile and the roof which helped lessen noise. This space is also where heating and air conditioning ducts are found which can blow dangerous fibers throughout the building.
