What is Arcanum?
Arcanum is fantasy RPG that takes place in a universe which both magic and technology reside. The best description that I can come up with is if you can imagine what the 18th century would look like in Middle Earth, this would be it. You may have noticed that I did not say that magic and technology live hand in hand. Because they don’t. The Mages don’t like the technologist and vice versa. The struggle between them is very apparent throughout the game. I have to admit, I am have a bit of trouble getting my mind around the concept. The game begins with the zeppelin that you are traveling on being shot down. You are the only survivor of the attack, and you have been given a ring by a Gnome. It is your destiny to be “the one”. Baddies are around every corner trying to kill you in unspeakable ways, and other obstacles are plentiful to impede your quest.
