What do Trinity and UCLES do?
They are independent examinations boards. They set the syllabus, define the required qualifications and training for trainers delivering the course and define in detail what a course should contain. They ensure that certain essential criteria are met and send an assessor to every course to check that course providers are delivering effective training. UCLES and Trinity also provide external assessment and moderation of course work. This ensures standards are kept high and is one reason why these qualifications are so highly regarded by employers. While it does not matter which exam board issues your qualification (Trinity or UCLES) it is very important to make sure you do not make the mistake of taking a course claiming ‘international recognition’, when in fact it is actually just a certificate of attendance from the school running the course.
