Who was Dr. Bach?
Edward Bach was born in 1886 in rural England, where he completed his medical training at University College in London in 1912. Dr. Bach worked in public medicine and private practice until 1914. During the war years, Dr. Bach became ill from overwork. Upon his recovery, he then began the study of homeopathy and bacteriology. Dr. Bach published his findings on the treatment of intestinal toxemia with homeopathic nosodes in 1920. Interestingly, he found that certain types of bacteria would be overgrown in certain types of individuals. He came to be able to predict from the patient’s personality what species of bacteria would be cultured, and what the patient’s response to treatment would be. This may have been the beginning of his interest in the psychological or emotional causes of illness. Dr. Bach became the Pathologist and Chief Bacteriologist for the London Homeopathic Hospital. In 1930, however, he gave up medical practice and devoted himself full-time to seeking non-toxic herbal
