What type of colleges with 2.9 GPA?
Just about all of them, depending. GPA is just one factor in admissions. SAT/ACT scores are another. A third is whether you are able to bring something that the university wants (like, you’re a great point guard or quarterback). A fourth is who you know–if there are contacts in the university or if you have relatives who are important alums and major benefactors. Given the right combination of those other factors, even Harvard would give you consideration. That said, I think you also should look at “bang for the buck” as well as probabilities of admission. Starting at a community college, as previous poster suggested, and doing 2 years there and 2 years at a university, will in almost every case (barring major scholarships and grants) get you to your bachelor’s degree with very little student loan debt.
