They believe you can have active herpes virus shedding in your saliva, or other bodily fluids, at any time and could be contagious without an active or visible cold sore on your lip. In my opinion this is quite extreme. If you follow this theory, then you never, in good conscious, be able to kiss again. There is no evidence that this situation, if it does occur, could actually infect someone else. And also keep in mind that 90% of the world population is already infected with this virus – usually by the time they are 12 years old.
