“What is Bertha” would be more accurate. Bertha is Archie’s elephant gun/blunderbuss/rifle (depending on requirements at the time). Based loosely on Sgt. Detritus’ siege crossbow, the name comes from a comment from a friend at archery once when we found that my bow was putting arrows through the (rather old) straw boss. The name originally comes from the World War 1 Howitzer named “Big Bertha”.
