How many signatures must an independent candidate submit on his or her petition, along with the application for a place on the November 2006 General Election ballot?
A. For all statewide candidates, petitions must contain at least 45,540 valid signatures. For non-statewide candidates (including U.S. Congressperson), petitions must contain at least 500 valid signatures or 5% of votes cast for all gubernatorial candidates cast in the applicable territory in the 2002 general election, whichever is lesser.
