Glasgow East Election. Who Will Win?
The SSP could do well in Glasgow East, and might even save their deposit. I think your right, that they would seem to be the natural choice for disenfranchised Labour voters in Glasgow, but in a first past the post election, they have absolutely no chance of winning. It’s exactly the same with my choice of party, the Greens. I expect a good showing, but no chance of their candidate getting elected. It’s more or less a straight race between Labour and the SNP in Glasgow East, I’m afraid, and I have a feeling that labour might just hang on, despite their continuing decline in popularity. The SNP’s performance depends a lot on whether natural Lib Dem and Tory voters remain loyal to their own party, or switch to the SNP as a tactical vote to get Labour out.
