Is Fidel Castro a good leader?
Castro has had a huge and beneficial effect on Cuba. The previous Batista regime, which Castro kicked out, was in the hands of American criminal groups such as the mafia. Havana was a seedy playground for the worst sort of American and full of brothels and gambling joints. Now Cuba has one of the best Health services in the world with a life expectancy higher than that in the US and most European countries. Child mortality rates are very low. This has also been helped because the country is poor because America will not trade with them. Consequently people walk and don’t eat low grade American processed food such as MacDonald’s. Their education system is very effective with a 100% literacy rate. Not many countries that can claim that. Castro has been influential throughout the region and other Central and South American countries have emulated his approach. Do not take the American call for freedom at face value.
