NMSO is the Navy Modeling & Simulation Office, located in OPNAV, N6M. The role of the Navy Modeling & Simulation Office (NMSO) is to provide centralized coordination of Navy M&S, coordinate M&S efforts across functional areas, and develop policies and procedures necessary for M&S standardization within the Navy. Established in 1995, NAVMSMO (Navy Modeling & Simulation Management Office) served as the focal point for Navy modeling and simulation, as well as to the Services, DoD, Joint Staff, and other agencies. In 2005, the name was changed to NMSO and the specific responsibilities of NMSO are delineated in SECNAVINST 5200.38. That document is available on the NMSO Web site.
