off age for Kindergarten? ?
He probably missed the cut-off date by three days. He’ll prefer being an older child in grade school rather than younger. I was born August 30th, and made the cut off date by just a few days. All throughout school I was the youngest in my class. Children often rank themselves by age (among other things), so I always felt a little bit bad about that. I think it is even worse for boys than girls. I began puberty later than my peers, which made me feel immature. Playing sports, I was smaller than everybody else, because they were all older. I also was not able to drive a car until my classmates were all driving (I was a junior in drivers ed, in a class full of sophomores). Even beginning college at 17-years is not all that it is cracked up to be. Don’t sweat your brother not getting into kindergarten. The cut-off doesn’t mean he isn’t smart enough. He will be happier being one of the older kids in his class, rather than one of the youngest.
