What Is a Food Mixer?
A food mixer is a common appliance in modern kitchens. Most models stand upright. The mixer has a base with a turntable that holds on to the mixing bowl and a motor that spins two beaters in opposite directions, thereby mixing cooking ingredients. Mainly used for desserts, the mixer’s removable beaters can usually be swapped out for special bread dough hooks or whisks, for a meringue or souffle. The operator lowers the beaters into the mixing bowl and turns on the motor. Many food mixers operate at adjustable speeds for varying degrees of dough thickness. How the Mixing Bowl Spins As the beaters spin in the food, the bowl is propelled along the turntable, allowing the mixers to reach all parts of the dough or batter.
