What does load-out look like?
Load-out is sometimes chaotic, sometimes smooth…it depends on the weather conditions and how quickly you are trying to leave town. There is no formal load-out program since artists, sponsors, vendors, etc. are all trying to leave the boardwalk at the same time. Vehicles are prohibited from driving on the boardwalk during load-out, but you can pull your vehicle as close to the boardwalk as possible (without crossing the bike path) and dolly to your vehicle. Volunteers are located at each access point during load-out to ensure that nobody blocks in anybody. We also have to make sure that emergency vehicle and police can access the boardwalk in case of an emergency. If you can wait just an hour or two, take your time boxing everything up, grab dinner and come back, you will avoid a great deal of stress and congestion….you still have to dolly out though.
