What is cmail?
cMail is the new NSIT service for University of Chicago email. The cMail system should be much more reliable and usable system for University email. Like any major change, however, there are differences, both good and bad, between cMail and previous NSIT systems. cMail went live Sunday, February 27th, 2005. • My password doesn’t work with Webmail anymore! If the password you are typing is more than eight characters, only type the first eight characters. Your password actually is only eight characters, but at some time during the 2002 recertification effort, the system accepted passwords longer than eight characters and silently truncated them. Additionally, the old Webmail (and email system in general) only accepted the first eight characters of your password. The new system accepts passwords longer than eight characters. • Since I created a filter, I haven’t gotten any new mail!
