Why do firms publish do Web pages?
Firms maintain Web Pages to generate revenue and or save on costs to distribute information. The distribution of information can be to customers or to internal firm staff. Many organizations are providing information to employees in their firm via the Internet. These Web pages can be created and maintained by the firm or contracted out to Internet providers or contractors. This is a growth area and provides many opportunities for employment. The first Web sites to generate revenue were firms that provided search capabilities to locate information. This would be marketed like telephone yellow pages. To publish a specific Web site on the search engine location is free but publicizing on the service costs money. There are many search engines in existence. There are 50 or so large ones and many more smaller ones. There are even business that help firms distribute their site information. My goal is that you learn how to create Web pages.
