Why do artists make radio edits?
With radio airplay harder and harder to come by, many record companies have taken to the practice of modifying singles. Radio edits often have a slightly different mix and are shorter than the original or album version, with the sole aim of making the track sound better on radio. Edits are also done to remove any offensive language that may make radio play unlikely, or to soften a searing guitar part if the song is going on to a pop station playlist, or for any other reason for a customized version of the song to fare better on radio.
