Why Control Gophers?
Control with toxic grain bait is a practical method for removing ground squirrels from large areas. Rozol is anti-coagulant bait that can be used in residential areas under restricted conditions. Mix the anticoagulant with grain and deliver it with a homemade or commercially manufactured bait station in order to reduce the chance that it will be consumed by pets or wildlife. For best results, use toxic baits in the spring before vegetation turns green. Ground squirrels are most likely to consume grain soon after they emerge from hibernation in the spring.
