Do voters want new district?

Cornwall school officials, who previously indicated they wanted to at least discuss the idea of taking New Windsor students who now attend Newburgh schools, this week told town Supervisor George Meyers they no longer are interested in the idea. The Washingtonville district, which like Cornwall already educates some New Windsor students, earlier told the town it can’t take on any more. That leaves New Windsor with one option: running its own school district. So when voters from New Windsor who live in the Newburgh School District go to the polls in November, they’ll consider an advisory referendum asking whether the town should pursue withdrawing from the Newburgh School District and forming its own.
