Nicotinic acid is a B-vitamin that belongs to the vitamin sub-class known as Niacin (Vitamin B3). It’s one of two niacin precursors and is known as niaicinimide, 3-pyridinecarboxylic acid, pyridine-beta-carboxylic acid, antipellagra vitamin and pellagra preventative factor. Nicotinic acid is a water-soluble vitamin that is very poorly absorbed by the body. As such, it needs to be supplemented at regular intervals throughout the day to achieve maximum benefit.
