It’s been interesting to watch the demand for biofuels increase, and then hear the debate over whether biofuels cause more harm than good, such as when valuable cropland is used to feed our ever-growing appetite for oil. Some scientists have turned to the sea, and the potential for “mari-fuels,” or fuels derived from marine plants. An article reported that scientists in Scotland will be looking at ways to convert sea plants, particularly kelp, into fuel.
