Why are greenways important?
Environmentally, greenways protect, conserve and link together natural resources and open areas. In doing these, greenways preserve environmentally sensitive areas and protect wildlife and their habitats. By connecting otherwise isolated habitats, they preserve biological diversity. They provide recreational opportunities close to home at little or no cost, and act as outdoor classrooms for children and adults.
