How do I use Comet Auctions proxy bidding system?
To place a bid, enter the maximum amount you would like to pay for the item in the text box. (This amount is always kept confidential from other bidders.) Our automatic bidding software then enters the lowest possible winning bid for you. If another buyer outbids you (in real time or by proxy), your bid will be automatically raised until you are winning or until you have reached your maximum bid. You receive an email whenever you place a bid. When you make a maximum bid, your email provides the details of your current bid as well as your maximum bid. You also receive an email whenever your bid (including your maximum bid) is losing to another bidder. At that point, you can increase your bid by clicking on “my account.” Note: You can increase your maximum bid at any time (even if you are winning the auction at the time).
