Are bay leaves poisonous to horses?
We have ‘bay’ trees on our property. They are actually called Myrtlewoods. My horses don’t touch them. Not the green leaves, dry leaves, no chewing on the bark or tree at all. I assume they are poisonous to them at the most…or they just taste bad. If your horses won’t touch it, I would listen to them. Then again…I wouldn’t feed them something they don’t normally eat or that hasn’t been approved. I wouldn’t feed mine poison oak…but they eat it on their own. So, I would definitely check if there was any research on the effect of bay leaves for horses.
