How are the orphan caretakers recruited?
The local church partners typically recruit the caretakers directly from their congregation. We are told in Scripture that “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (James 1:27, NIV) Typically, widows are included as caregivers that live with and care for the orphans in homes. Like the orphans, these widows are often disenfranchised, abused and exploited by their societies, so they truly understand the sense of loss and pain that the orphaned and abandoned children feel.
