Should Chuck E. Cheese sell booze?
Despite it being a place “where a kid can be a kid,” seventy percent of all Chuck E. Cheese locations across the country sell alcohol (to parents only, presumably). Now, the one in Sherman, Texas has filed an application for a permit to sell liquor. Not everyone, however, is happy about this. Ashley Earls, for example, was aghast. “That’s shocking; it’s supposed to be a place for children,” she said. “There’s no need for alcohol to be served there. I think that’s very wrong.” Other parents expressed concern that kids are already exposed enough to alcohol without it being served in children’s venues. Naturally, Chuck E. Cheese defends their sale of alcohol, saying it is simply a convenience for their adult guests. “It is our experience that our adult guests are very responsible consumers who are concerned about the safety of their children,” the company wrote in a statement, “so it is rare that we experience any issues related to the service of beer and wine.” I don’t think that Chuck E
