What issues were reviewed by NRC?
A committee of the National Research Council reviewed the scientific evidence on associations between adverse health effects and historical data on prenatal, childhood, and adult exposures to contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune. The committee assessed the strength of evidence in establishing a link or association between exposure to trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, benzene, and other volatile organic compounds and each adverse health effect suspected to be associated with such exposure. NRC began its study in April 2007.
